Ways these Broncos together with their malleable QB could stop that Chiefs' reign.

Week six of the 2025 NFL season

Real-time updates includes text commentary of Sunday's games on various channels, beginning with the Broncos-Jets clash in London (from 14:00 BST). Also, audio coverage can be heard through select stations covering another key matchup (from 21:00 BST).

It's week six in the NFL season and after last week's talk about the Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles as possible championship contenders, each lost their unbeaten records.

Striking during those contests was the number of infractions both conceded. Philadelphia committed them in key moments so they kind of beat themselves having led 17-3 going into the final quarter against the Denver Broncos, set to play overseas this Sunday.

But it proved positive to see that Denver's QB Bo Nix was able to have that deficit and then lead three scoring drives on three possessions in the fourth quarter, to win the game by four points.

The Broncos boast the top defender in cornerback their star corner. They are number one in goal-line defense, while the Eagles lead the league in scoring near the end zone, yet the Broncos prevailed in that battle.

They had effective strategies regarding simulated pressure. They weren't always sending extra defenders instead they could position two linebackers in the 'A' gap then drop them out and send a slot defender off the edge.

Early on in the campaign, it was noted on a program that Denver could be this season's dark horses. They ended last season strongly then excelled of building upon that.

Could Denver be this year's dark horses?

New TE Evan Engram has excelled significantly and recent RB JK Dobbins is a player they believe in. He now ranks 5th in the NFL for rushing yards (402) and tied-fourth in rushing scores (four).

I love how the coach the Broncos' leader displays "RUSH!" prominently of his playcall sheet.

That shows that the Broncos are a team that wants to prioritize the run, since you can achieve much based on that approach. It reduces opposing rushes and keeps you in favourable situations.

It's also helped quarterback the young passer, who entered the NFL as the 12th overall draft pick last year, throwing 29 touchdown passes – second only to a star QB in rookie records (31 in 2020).

Other elite QBs have the arm strength to pass anywhere, however they don't move in the same way that Nix has. He boasts exceptional arm talent, a unique trait, and he's so athletic.

His strengths include his movement, being able to pass on the run, as well as using different arm angles to deliver the pass as he moves outside protection, on rollouts. He is able to throw that layered pass over the middle and past defenders.

As a rookie QB, aged 25, he displays a lot of poise under pressure and is not bothered by extra rushers. He tries to avoid being tackled whenever possible and is able throw under pressure. He possesses sharp intelligence and remains very decisive.

When you constantly run the ball it eats up the clock and forces the defence to stay in play for longer, and if you've got a mobile QB the defence has to defend the area vertically side to side. This proves exhausting.

The quarterback has bitten back at Payton on the sideline sometimes and I think Payton likes that attitude, that he's a fierce rival. In my view it's fun for the coach to have a young quarterback that is kind of like moldable clay. He can really build something up the way he desires to build it. I think it's a special experience for the coach.

Payton has won a championship and now surpassed Bill Parcells for career NFL wins (173 - tied 14th overall). He's seen it all. In my opinion the success the Broncos are having on offence is mostly down to his guidance, his schemes, his situational awareness – and the combination with Nix helps shape him what he is.

You wouldn't want a more qualified person in your ear, to assist you through some of the tougher situations and boost self-belief.

I believe in the Broncos' defense, in the QB's grit and calm. But are they strong enough to go against a top squad at its best? Because that was not a Super Bowl performance by the Eagles in their last game.

Right now, it's unlikely Denver are elite. They're working better than most, that's a good place to be in their division. The key is to continue this trajectory.

They're really good at leaning into their strength, that is running the ball, and that's exactly what they should do versus the Jets at Tottenham. It's going to be a Dobbins-focused game, in essence.

The Jets have surrendered 140 rushing yards each contest (among the worst), five rushing touchdowns so far (10th worst), and they're the sole squad without a win a game.

Since the NFL started recording turnovers decades ago, the Jets are the first team to be without any turnovers in five outings, this is kind of shocking considering that the head coach Aaron Glenn defensive co-ordinator with another team.

The Chiefs' QB says Kansas City have 'already lost too many games' following a recent loss by the Jaguars.

Following this Sunday's game, Denver have a smooth-ish schedule up to their break (in week twelve) - the New York Giants, the Cowboys, the Texans and the Raiders prior to the Chiefs.

In their division, the Chiefs are 2-3 and the Broncos are tied with the Los Angeles Chargers on 3-2 so they could make a run at leading the West.

This hinges upon which form Kansas City shows up they meet because Denver {beat|def
