This Swine Life: Hog Named 6-7 Spared by Miami Dade County Leader.
Although not quite at the equivalent scale as granting clemency to festive fowl, but the mayor of Miami-Dade conducted a Donald Trump moment this week by ritually sparing the life of a swine named Six Seven.
Daniella Levine Cava performed the seasonal stunt at the Cuban-style Latin Cafe 2000 in the center of Miami’s iconic Little Havana neighborhood.
“This pig is innocent. She deserves this act of mercy. No offenses are on her docket,” declared Levine Cava in a speech with obvious nods to the vast quantity of pardons issued from the start of the beginning of a new presidential term.
“Except perhaps for eating half a dozen apples per day,” the mayor added. “May this pig enjoy a prosperous future free from concern.”
The event, either celebrating or rejecting the area's customary feast of consuming swine during the holidays, was founded to emulate the traditional fowl clemency at the White House.
The animal, provided by a local firefighter, was given its name from the modern linguistic fad of young people exclaiming “six-seven” – inspired by a musical verse – often seemingly at random. The trend became so widespread that a major dictionary recently made “6-7” its 2025 word of the year.
A New Life
The pardoned swine is now scheduled to spend its days at a rural sanctuary “away from grills and cookware”, according to the ceremony's official statement.
“This swine clemency has become a cherished method to begin the holiday season,” said the cafe owner, in a notably cheerful message.
“It represents the character of Miami: happy, varied, and grounded in customs that bring people together. Annually, we are honored to observe culture and compassion in a way distinctively Miamian.”
Participants enjoyed a meat-free selection of spinach fritters and strong coffee as they marked the swine's new lease on life.
