The former Brazilian leader has been detained after authorities determined he posed a concrete flight risk while under house arrest.

The ex-president was sentenced of orchestrating a government overthrow in the ninth month and sentenced more than over two decades in incarceration, but he remained under home detention pending court reviews.

Top Judicial Official Alexandre de Moraes said the action to imprison the elderly politician was a safety action after recent developments were revealed.
