Iran Claims Strike on US Base in Bahrain, As Part of Regional Counterattacks.
Tehran reports attacking a US naval base in Manama, as Iran launched missile attacks across the region in retaliation for a significant and ongoing assault against it by the United States and Israeli forces.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an vicinity in the area of the headquarters of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The extent of any destruction is uncertain and the US has not commented.
Airspace Engagements
In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - all home to US military bases - reported they have intercepted incoming projectiles in their territorial skies.
In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence said it had intercepted a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the region.
IRGC Statement
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement it was attacking US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the offensive on the Islamic Republic carried out by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.
That initial attack - launched at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far struck sites linked to the the regime, with President Trump encouraging the Iranian people to rise up against the leadership.
Additional Developments
In the State of Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israel Defense Forces reported it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The defence ministry of the UAE announced that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses responded to the projectiles with high efficiency and shot down a several projectiles," the statement continued.
Officials reported missile fragments landed in a populated district in the capital, resulting in some property damage and the death of one civilian.
The US Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
