Fresh Particulars Come to Light About the Finding of the Reiner Couple's Remains

Fresh particulars have surfaced about the untimely passing of acclaimed film director Rob Reiner and artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose remains were found at their residence property on Sunday.

The Alarm

As detailed in an account quoting a family associate, a therapist arriving for an appointment was the first to notice something was wrong after being unable to gain access the house. The practitioner then contacted the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who lives nearby.

After gaining access to the residence, Romy found her father's body. Accounts indicate she then left the home distraught, unaware at that moment that her mother's body was also present. Another individual who had gone with her promptly called 911. Subsequently, first responders discovered Michele Singer Reiner's body.

Criminal Proceedings

The police have charged the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with two counts of premeditated murder, as well as the charge related to a weapon, said to be a knife. He is now detained without bail.

Clarifications

The person close to the family questioned several previously reported details. It was stated that while Romy Reiner told first responders that her brother Nick resided in a detached unit on the estate, she did not name him as a potential suspect at that time.

Additionally disputed widely reported claims that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been particularly "worried" about Nick's behavior in the weeks leading up to the incident. Instead the family was "used to working through [Nick's] problems together."

This correction applies to accounts of reportedly "unpredictable" conduct by Nick at a gathering hosted by Conan O'Brien the evening prior to the tragedy. Although the source said they were unable to confirm whether Rob had "scolded" his son at the party, they said that reports of a "major confrontation" between the two were inaccurate.

Ongoing Inquiry Details

As stated by law enforcement sources, the coroner had not yet established as of Tuesday whether the Reiners died on Saturday evening or on Sunday. Some accounts suggested the condition of their bodies pointed to they had been deceased for a number of hours.

Nick Reiner was taken into custody at around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park area, some 15 miles from the scene. He was due to have a hearing on Tuesday, but his attorney, Alan Jackson, said his client had a medical issue and would not be present until no sooner than Wednesday.
