Both Deceased Students Identified in the Ivy League School Shooting as Police Persist in Hunt for Gunman.

The pair of scholars who were killed in the weekend's tragic incident on the university campus had tributes paid to them on Monday – amid a widespread hunt for their shooter continued following the freeing by Rhode Island officials of the sole person detained in connection in the case.

Honoring a Lost Student

The student Ella Cook, a second-year student from Alabama, was called “an amazing, stable, pious, radiant soul”, as stated by the Cathedral Church of the Advent, Birmingham, which honored her memory at a service on Sunday.

She served as vice-president of Brown’s chapter of College Republicans of America, the group said. The White House press secretary also shared words of sorrow publicly, stating: “Words cannot express. Remembering her loved ones and companions, especially her parents.”

An International Student

The other deceased individual was an Uzbek national named MukhammadAziz Umurzokov, from Uzbekistan in his initial year at the renowned school, according to relatives.

His name was officially acknowledged by the foreign office of Uzbekistan.

“He was incredibly kind, funny, and smart. He harbored grand aspirations of pursuing a career in neurosurgery and assisting patients,” Samira Umurzokova, his sister said in a online post.

What Happened

Nine more persons were injured in Saturday’s attack in the engineering building of Brown’s campus in Providence, during the university's examination week.

Law enforcement reported late Sunday that a 24-year-man detained in a search at a lodging about approximately 17 miles from the campus earlier in the day was released from custody.

“We have a murderer out there,” declared Rhode Island’s attorney general, Peter Neronha.

He continued, “Sometimes you head in one direction, and then you need to change course and head another way, and that is the current situation over the last approximately one day.”

Community Anxiety

Providence’s mayor, Brett Smiley, acknowledged: “We know that this is likely to cause new worry for our community”.

The shooter discharged a weapon inside a room in the engineering building on over the weekend, shooting over four dozen bullets from a 9mm pistol, a law enforcement official reported to the Associated Press.

Police that searched the inn recovered a pair of pistols and two ammunition clips when the suspect was arrested, as was reported.

Condition of the Injured

Regarding the nine injured, a single scholar was discharged from care, said Christina Paxson, Christina Paxson. An additional seven were in grave but unchanging health, and one remained in critical care, police said on Sunday.

A private school, a private academy in Durham, North Carolina, said a recent graduate, Kendall Turner, was in the group of seriously hurt victims.

Additional Memorials

Cook was remembered at a religious service in Birmingham on Sunday. A clergyman said, “She shone as a remarkable, stable, devout beacon not only in her youth... but at Brown she was an incredible light in that institution as well.”

The president of College Republicans, Martin Bertao, released remarks from the group. “Ella was known for her fearless, heroic, and gentle spirit as she worked for her branch and peers,” he said.

Jonathan Henick, Jonathan Henick, said he was “extremely sorrowful” by Umurzokov’s death in a tribute. “Our profound condolences go out to his relatives, companions, and fellow students and grieve for of his bright future.”

National Context

The fatal shooting at Brown, the country's seventh most historic university with about over seven thousand undergraduate and postgraduate students, happened during one of at least nearly 400 mass shootings recorded nationally so far in this year, according to statistics. Monday was the 349th day of the year.
